AIST and Quantum Delta NL to Collaborate on Joint Quantum Research, Talent Exchange, and Market Integration

Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and the Netherlands’ Quantum Delta NL have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen international collaboration on the societal implementation of quantum technologies. The agreement was formalized during the HTDX conference in Osaka and focuses on fostering mutual engagement between Japan and the Netherlands to drive quantum innovation into industrial and social use cases.

The partnership will be executed through AIST’s Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI Technology (G-QuAT) and will prioritize researcher exchange, joint project development, field lab cooperation, and knowledge-sharing activities such as symposiums and hackathons. The MoU establishes a framework to jointly explore market creation opportunities and align on best practices in deploying quantum technologies in real-world applications.

This collaboration builds on growing momentum in Dutch–Japanese quantum relations. In addition to this MoU, both countries have recently engaged in the NWO–JST joint quantum research call and maintain existing partnerships, such as the QuTech–Fujitsu alliance. The agreement is expected to accelerate the industrialization of quantum technology and support the emergence of new international applications and ecosystems.
