BTQ Launches Quantum Proof-of-Work Simulator for Blockchain Consensus

BTQ Technologies Corp. (BTQ) (CBOE CA: BTQ, FSE: NG3, OTCQX: BTQQF) has unveiled its Quantum Proof-of-Work (QPoW) Simulator. This platform is described as the first publicly accessible system that showcases a fully quantum-native mining algorithm verifiable on classical hardware. The release represents a development in securing digital assets, offering a quantum analogue to Bitcoin’s SHA-256 proof-of-work and providing a method to prepare digital assets against emerging quantum threats. QPoW has been adopted as the first consensus work-item in the baseline specification by the Quantum Industrial Standard Association (QuINSA).

QPoW operates by replacing the traditional hash puzzle with a boson sampling task, which can be executed on small photonic quantum devices. The simulator demonstrates a measurable quantum advantage through coarse-grained boson sampling. Users can adjust parameters such as photon count, optical modes, and measurement bins to explore security-performance trade-offs. The platform provides interactive analytics for comparing miner outputs and validating submissions using total-variation-distance (TVD) and peak-bin-percentage (PBP) checks. The design aims for energy efficiency by decoupling difficulty from power consumption, relying on photonic hardware quality rather than brute-force hashing, and eliminates vulnerabilities to Grover-style attacks by shifting the work function to quantum sampling.

This development offers a path to prepare digital assets, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and high-value payment networks for quantum threats. It addresses pressures on current proof-of-work systems, including escalating energy demands and potential quantum attacks. The solution’s classically verifiable yet quantum-native design aligns with recent regulatory movements in quantum resilience, such as the European Commission’s Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Roadmap and NIST’s PQC standards. QPoW is part of BTQ’s broader execution roadmap, which also includes the recent unveiling of the Quantum Stablecoin Settlement Network (QSSN) and a strategic partnership with QPerfect to validate QPoW on neutral-atom quantum processors.
