D-Wave Delivers Italy’s First Annealing Quantum Computer to Lombardy Infrastructure Hub

Dual-platform quantum hardware and software provider D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NASDAQ: QBTS) has delivered an Advantage2 annealing quantum computer to Villa Saporiti in Como, Italy, marking the installation of the country’s first on-premises annealing quantum system.

Funded through a €10 million agreement with Swiss Quantum Technology SA (SQT), the 4,400+ qubit system, designated internally as the VoltaB1 within the Q-Alliance ecosystem, provides European research universities and commercial enterprises with direct physical access to production-grade quantum annealing hardware. Under the commercial agreement, SQT acquired 50% of the system’s operational capacity for five years, holding an option to purchase full ownership of the installation. Once fully configured, the system will be accessible remotely via D-Wave’s Leap cloud service.
