Digital Catapult and NQCC Launch Third QTAP Cohort, Introducing Banking and Healthcare Streams

The UK’s deep-tech innovation accelerator Digital Catapult has welcomed 11 commercial and public organizations to the third cohort of its Quantum Technology Access Programme (QTAP). Delivered in tandem with the National Quantum Computing Centre’s (NQCC) SparQ program, the initiative provides a structured incubation pathway to transition theoretical algorithms into verifiable industrial prototypes.

Running through February 2027, the third cohort expands into the financial services sector and specialized healthcare diagnostics for the first time. Participants will be granted direct access to ORCA Computing’s PT-2 photonic quantum computer, deployed on-premises at the NQCC, alongside cloud-based simulation environments to run live hardware benchmarking.

Pivoting to Financial Networks and Clinical Diagnostics

Previous iterations of the QTAP structure focused primarily on heavy engineering, aerospace, and defense logistics with partners like Rolls-Royce and Airbus. Cohort 3 introduces two highly targeted operational streams designed to capture high-impact enterprise use cases:

To align with the UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy, the remaining cohort members are deploying QML and combinatorial optimization subroutines across four distinct commercial pillars:
