House Committee Passes Their Version of the U.S. National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization Act

A couple of weeks ago we reported that the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation had passed S.3597 – National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization Act of 2026 and it will now be up to vote by the full Senate. Similarly, the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology has passed a House version of the bill H.R.8462 – National Quantum Initiative Reauthorization Act and it will also now be voted upon by the full House of Representatives.

Before the bill becomes law, any differences between the two bills must be ironed out and the final version needs to be approved by the full House and Senate. After that, the President needs to sign the bill for it to take affect.

For more information about this bill, refer to our previous article we posted here when the Senate committee approved their version and also view a statement from California Congresswomen Zoe Lofgren, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology available here.
