Midwest Quantum Collaboratory Expands to Eight Universities with Addition of UIC, Northwestern, and Regional Partners

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), alongside Northwestern University, Indiana University, Washington University in St. Louis, and The Ohio State University, has officially joined the Midwest Quantum Collaboratory (MQC). Originally founded in 2021 by Purdue University, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University, the regional consortium has now expanded to eight member institutions following its fifth annual Entanglement meeting at Purdue. MQC focuses on inter-university research partnerships, knowledge sharing, and quantum workforce development across computing, sensing, and communication domains. The addition of UIC creates an interesting regional dynamic alongside the larger Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE)—where the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign serves as a core member—further broadening academic coalition networks across the Midwestern quantum ecosystem.
