New U.S. Department of Energy Program Will Invest $30 Million into Quantum Research



The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released a solicitation to provide up to $30 million in funding for research into Quantum Information Science (QIS).  The three year program is expected to make  up to 12 awards for different research efforts with each award ranging between $500,000 to $2,000,000 per year.  The total amount would be $10 million for each of the three years.  The solicitation is limited to is limited to  the five DOE National Laboratory with Nanoscale Science Research Centers (NSRCs) as listed below.

The deadline for submission of a pre-proposal is June 1, 2018 and the deadline for the full proposal is July 18, 2018.  DOE indicated that this is the first of a series of funding awards they plan to make for QIS in FY2018.  For more details, you can view the DOE press release here and the full program announcement here.
