The Otaniemi innovation hub physically integrates commercial deep-tech developers with public sector defense agencies and international security accelerators:

Strengthening European Technological Sovereignty

The expansion responds to heightened geopolitical demand across Europe for sovereign defense capabilities and resilient supply chains. By establishing shared workspace, testing facilities, and commercialization channels through Technopolis and Enter Espoo, the hub accelerates the transition of academic and private deep-tech research into deployed defense, security, and civilian applications. Supported by Espoo Mayor Kai Mykkänen and City Council Chair Jarno Limnéll, the initiative reinforces Finland’s position as a primary European center for dual-use technology development.
