The UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) has executed an enterprise licensing agreement with quantum algorithm developer Phasecraft to provide British businesses, academic researchers, and public sector organizations with access to Phasecraft’s proprietary application software suites. Marking the first time the NQCC has integrated dedicated commercial quantum software into its broader SparQ Access user-engagement initiative, the partnership aims to lower the technical barrier for domain specialists evaluating practical quantum advantage across condensed matter physics, chemical modeling, and industrial combinatorial optimization.
Under the terms of the agreement, the NQCC and Phasecraft will issue an open call for proposals in late November 2026, with the inaugural user cohort commencing in Spring 2027. Participating teams will receive direct technical onboarding and co-development support from Phasecraft’s research scientists and engineers to deploy three domain-targeted software platforms:
- Magritte: A quantum simulation platform tailored for materials science and molecular modeling, focusing on hardware-aware quantum circuit construction and algorithmic resource estimation.
- Monet: A computational chemistry tool incorporating quantum-enhanced density functional theory (DFT) to simulate strongly correlated electronic structures and complex molecular systems.
- Mondrian: An optimization engine accessible via API and web interfaces, architected to accelerate classical-quantum hybrid solvers for logistics routing, grid infrastructure, and quantitative finance.
While the NQCC’s SparQ program has historically focused on brokering cloud runtime across diverse domestic and international hardware architectures, the agreement expands the national center’s mandate to address the application software layer. By pairing Phasecraft’s algorithmic compilation toolchains with the NQCC’s compute access infrastructure, the initiative intends to transition UK industry users from exploratory hardware benchmarking toward domain-specific workload preparation ahead of early fault-tolerant quantum deployments.
Program guidelines and application timelines are detailed in the Official Phasecraft Announcement here; readers can also review previous QCR reporting on SparQ user-engagement workflows in OQC, Citi, and NQCC Evaluate Quantum-Compressed PINNs for Financial Derivative Pricing Workflows here.
