Ooredoo Invests 2.8 Million Qatari Riyals ($768K USD) to Support Establishment of Qatar’s First Quantum Communication Testbed at Hamad Bin Khalifa University

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications operator, has committed 2.8 million Qatari Riyals ($768K USD) to support Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) Qatar Centre for Quantum Computing (QC2) in building the country’s first quantum communication testbed. This project is a core initiative of QC2, aimed at establishing a secure quantum communication system that surpasses the capabilities of classical cryptographic methods, offering 100% security. The testbed will form the foundation for Qatar’s future Quantum Internet, positioning the nation as a leader in quantum communication technology in the region.

This collaboration highlights Qatar’s dedication to technological innovation and its ambition to become a regional hub for advanced quantum technologies. The project is expected to attract international investors and industry experts, further stimulating the local economy. Ooredoo’s involvement not only supports the development of secure communication infrastructure in Qatar but also strengthens the country’s position as a pioneer in the adoption of disruptive technologies.
