Pasqal Establishes U.S. Headquarters in Illinois with $65M Investment, Following Logical Qubit Milestone

Pasqal, a neutral-atom quantum computing company, has announced it will establish its U.S. headquarters as a tenant of the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP) on Chicago’s South Side. The company will invest more than $65 million in its first U.S. location and create 50 new full-time jobs. This expansion is supported by the State’s Manufacturing Illinois Chips for Real Opportunity Act (MICRO) Program and includes a $15 million loan from the Illinois Finance Authority/Climate Bank.

This commercial expansion is underpinned by recent technical milestones. Pasqal has achieved control over 250+ physical qubits and demonstrated the successful execution of two logical qubits on its neutral atom platform, an achievement that is a European first. The company, which builds and commercializes quantum computers based on neutral atom technology developed at the CNRS Charles Fabry Laboratory, will house one of its quantum processing units onsite at the IQMP facility.

The company’s internal roadmap charts a path from the currently demonstrated two logical qubits to over 200 by 2030. This progress from physical to logical qubits is intended to unlock universal quantum computation for science and industry. Pasqal’s focus is on delivering quantum value today through high-quality physical qubit control while systematically preparing for scalable, fault-tolerant systems.

Pasqal joins a growing roster of major quantum organizations and companies at the IQMP, including IBM, PsiQuantum, Infleqtion, Diraq, and DARPA. This concentration of investment and expertise solidifies Illinois’s position as a national quantum hub. The collaboration links Pasqal’s technical advancements with the supportive policy environment and infrastructure necessary to accelerate real-world quantum applications in areas such as advanced materials and drug discovery.
