Quantinuum to Open a New R&D Site in New Mexico Focusing on Photonics

Quantinuum, the world’s largest integrated quantum computing company, is opening a new location in New Mexico later this year to advance photonics technologies critical to its trapped ion quantum computing. This move leverages New Mexico’s leadership in quantum information sciences and photonics, established through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Tech Hubs program. Several organizations with significant expertise in related areas are currently located in New Mexico including Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and universities, such as The University of New Mexico.

The new site, expected to create high-paying jobs and drive economic growth, will enhance collaborations with local national laboratories and universities. This partnership aims to further innovative quantum computing applications and workforce development, strengthening U.S. economic competitiveness and national security.
