Quantum Motion Finalizes Second Close of Series C Funding Round for Silicon QPU Scaling

Silicon spin-qubit developer Quantum Motion has finalized the second close of its Series C funding round to accelerate industrial scale-up of its fault-tolerant silicon quantum processors. Co-led by existing Series C lead investors DCVC and Kembara, the extension tranche includes new and returning strategic and financial backers imec.ventures, Lansdowne Partners, Sony Innovation Fund, S3 Ventures, and Inkef.

The expanded capital base will support custom silicon co-development using standard 300mm CMOS semiconductor foundries, leveraging commercial supply chains alongside manufacturing partners such as imec and GlobalFoundries. The funding supports Quantum Motion’s international expansion—including the establishment of a U.S. research laboratory in Maryland—and funds ongoing technical execution under Stage B of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI).

Quantum Motion’s hardware strategy centers on dense silicon spin-qubit architectures fabricated within commercial semiconductor foundries. By utilizing standard CMOS processes rather than specialized manufacturing lines, the company projects hardware unit costs in the single-digit millions of dollars per system, targeting a 100-fold reduction in physical rack footprint and a 1,000-fold decrease in energy consumption compared to alternative modalities. Under CEO James Palles-Dimmock, the capital builds on the initial $160M Series C close, expanding full-stack QPU deployments following the delivery of its commercial system to the UK National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC).
