Qunnect Secures $10 Million Series A Extension for Quantum Networking Development

Qunnect, a company deploying quantum entanglement-based protocols over commercial fiber, has closed an oversubscribed Series A extended financing round, securing $10 million. The round was led by Airbus Ventures, with additional participation from Cisco Investments and Quantonation. This new funding is designated to fuel the development of turn-key variants of Qunnect’s Carina product suite, enabling demonstrations for new use cases with strategic industry partners. Qunnect has already deployed two metropolitan quantum networks in major cities (New York City and Berlin).

Qunnect’s products, including its Carina product suite, support the real-world deployment of scalable data networks based on quantum physics. These commercially available hardware solutions are designed to operate at room temperature, which enables broader industry adoption beyond traditional laboratory settings. The Carina product suite creates, buffers, and preserves entangled photons at rates that support quantum communications over existing telecommunications fiber, forming the basis for enhanced security, sensing, and information transmission. The participation of Cisco Investments aligns with Cisco Quantum Research‘s focus on quantum network entanglement chips and a quantum data center vision.

This investment is critical for advancing the utility of quantum networks, driving breakthroughs in cybersecurity and distributed quantum computing and sensing. The new capital will allow Qunnect to accelerate the development of solutions for strategic industry partners across financial services, energy infrastructure, telecom, and defense sectors, moving towards practical, real-world implementations. The deployment of entanglement-based protocols on existing fiber provides a foundation for truly secure and powerful network capabilities beyond what is currently available.
