Rigetti and India’s C-DAC Announce MOU to Co-Develop Hybrid Quantum Computing Systems

Rigetti Computing, Inc. (Nasdaq: RGTI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), India’s R&D organization of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The collaboration aims to explore the co-development of hybrid quantum computing systems to support government laboratories and academics pursuing quantum computing research and development in India.

C-DAC, which is the nodal agency for the Government of India’s ChipIN initiative, brings expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) solutions. The partnership is a strategic step toward developing indigenous cryogenic electronics, superconducting quantum hardware, and securing access to advanced processor fabrication. Rigetti and C-DAC intend to collaborate on the design and development of hybrid quantum computing systems, use case and application workflow development, and workforce development activities.

The collaboration is positioned to drive advancements in electronics and information technology, particularly in quantum and hybrid computing, and contribute to the nation’s technological progress. Dr. S D Sudarsan, Executive Director, C-DAC Bangalore, noted that the partnership presents an opportunity to co-develop advanced cryogenic electronics under the ChipIN program. The collaboration supports C-DAC’s role in implementing nationally significant projects in quantum technologies, including the indigenous development of Quantum Processing Units (QPUs), cryogenic electronics, and control hardware.
