Rigetti Computing has entered a strategic collaboration with Quanta Computer, a Taiwan-based Global Fortune 500 company, to accelerate the development and commercialization of superconducting quantum computing. Each company will invest over $100 million over the next five years for a total of over $200 million. Quanta also be investing $35 million in Rigetti’s shares, subject to regulatory approval. The collaboration leverages Rigetti’s expertise in superconducting quantum technology and Quanta’s leadership in server manufacturing and global supply chain management.
Superconducting qubits, known for their fast gate speeds and compatibility with semiconductor manufacturing techniques, are a focus of the partnership. Rigetti’s modular architecture and Quanta’s manufacturing capabilities aim to advance scalable quantum computing systems. The collaboration will target applications in enterprise, government, and research sectors.
The partnership aims to address key challenges in scaling quantum systems, including improving qubit coherence, reducing error rates, and integrating quantum processors with classical infrastructure. By combining Rigetti’s quantum hardware and software expertise with Quanta’s advanced manufacturing and global distribution network, the collaboration seeks to accelerate the commercialization of practical quantum computing solutions.
