SemiQon, based in Finland, and Korean company SDT have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on scalable quantum computing solutions. This partnership, formalized at SemiQon’s Espoo, Finland headquarters, will see SDT integrate SemiQon’s silicon-based quantum processing units (QPUs) into its quantum measurement systems. The initiative aims to enhance the stability, scalability, and production efficiency of quantum computing systems, aligning with both companies’ vision to expand global quantum computing capabilities.
Leveraging SemiQon’s expertise in silicon-based QPUs, the collaboration will utilize existing semiconductor infrastructure to lower production costs and enable mass production. This silicon-based approach, emphasizing compatibility with traditional manufacturing processes, supports the rapid commercialization of quantum computing solutions and helps bridge the gap between traditional and quantum computing systems.
SDT, a Korean leader in quantum technology, is optimistic about the collaboration’s potential to position Korea as a key player in quantum technology production. Both SemiQon and SDT believe this partnership could significantly advance the goal of developing scalable, cost-effective quantum computing solutions for various industries.
