Taiyi Quantum Surpasses ¥1 Billion RMB ($149.6M+ USD) in Cumulative Funding for Ytterbium Neutral-Atom Systems

Shanghai-based neutral-atom quantum hardware developer Taiyi Quantum (太一量生, officially registered as Taiyi Liangsheng (Shanghai) Quantum Technology Co., Ltd.) has announced the completion of a major financing round, bringing its total cumulative funding past 1 billion RMB (~$149.6M USD) within nine months of its founding in January 2026.

The latest transaction was led by existing shareholder Huakong Fund (华控基金, Tsinghua-backed), with participation from new and returning institutional investors including Jinqiu Fund (锦秋基金), Chengdu High-Tech Zone Vision Fund (成都高新愿景基金), Yunbai Capital (沄柏资本), Lingang Frontier Investment (临港前沿投资), Hongruida Investment (鸿瑞达投资), Hengxu Capital (恒旭资本), Boyuan Capital (博原资本), Gaomai Capital (高脉资本), and Yaru Capital (雅瑞资本). The transaction officially elevates Taiyi Quantum to unicorn valuation status.

Full-Stack Hardware Execution and Engineering Milestones

Co-founded by CEO Fang Zhenghao and CTO Dr. Liu Hongbin, former Chief Architect of Microsoft Quantum, Taiyi Quantum has scaled its team to nearly 100 multidisciplinary researchers recruited from MIT, Cambridge, UPenn, LMU Munich, Tsinghua, and CQT Singapore. The company focuses on Ytterbium (171Yb) neutral-atom arrays—a platform utilizing nuclear-spin clock states to achieve extended coherence, native high-precision multi-qubit entangling gates, and physical erasure error detection.

Within six months of founding, the company completed full whole-machine integration of its first physical QPU prototype, unifying vacuum, narrow-linewidth laser, optical tweezer, and imaging sub-assemblies. Key engineering milestones include:

The funding trajectory builds upon Taiyi Quantum’s ¥300 Million RMB ($44M USD) Pre-A round in June 2026, which established its 1,000-square-meter cleanroom facility in Shanghai’s Xuhui District and initiated its full-stack ytterbium hardware manufacturing strategy.
