Three Dutch Companies Receive €1 Million ($1.17M USD) to Research State-of-the-Art Two-Qubit Gate Fidelity on Superconducting Qubits

The Dutch Kansen voor West (KvW) program has invested €1 million ($1.17M USD) in Project HAVIK, a collaborative initiative aimed at achieving state-of-the-art two-qubit gate fidelity. This project brings together three market leaders from Delft: QuantWare, Qblox, and Delft Circuits, with QuantWare leading the effort.

Attaining high two-qubit gate fidelity is crucial for the performance of superconducting qubits, enabling complex quantum algorithms and quantum error correction. Project HAVIK addresses the entire quantum computing stack, with each company leveraging its unique expertise:

This collaboration not only seeks to measure two-qubit gate fidelity but also aims to demonstrate the power of quantum open architecture (QOA) and the seamless interoperability of the components from these three companies.

The €1 million investment from KvW underscores its commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth in the region, positioning the Netherlands as a leader in the global quantum race.

The HAVIK team is already underway, with the first significant results anticipated as of 2026, and the project slated to conclude in early 2027.
