Colorado Breaks Ground on 70-Acre Quantum Commons, Aiming to Build a Global Quantum Tech Hub

Elevate Quantum and the Colorado School of Mines have launched the Quantum Commons campus in Arvada, Colorado, following a $40.5 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce along additional funding from the Colorado state government aimed at developing a quantum technology hub in the region. The 70-acre campus will serve as a research and innovation park, fostering collaboration between startups, academic institutions, and private companies to accelerate the development and commercialization of quantum technology.

The Quantum Commons will include clean-room labs, shared facilities, and office space, enabling quantum startups to commercialize their technologies. Colorado School of Mines has committed $20 million to revamp existing infrastructure and develop specialized fabrication facilities to support sensitive quantum research.

The initiative is expected to attract billions in private investments and create tens of thousands of jobs in the Denver-Boulder area, many of which won’t require advanced degrees. It aims to position Colorado as a leader in quantum technology, driving advancements across industries such as defense, healthcare, and environmental sustainability.
