DIGITAL, Canada’s Global Innovation Cluster for digital technologies, has announced new co-investments totaling nearly CA$5 million ($3.47 million USD) to support the commercialization and adoption of Canadian quantum technologies. Leveraging funding from Canada’s National Quantum Strategy and industry partners, these investments aim to pilot quantum solutions in real-world environments, further solidifying Canada’s leadership in quantum innovation.
The projects, which are expected to attract over CA$7 million ($4.86 million USD) in additional partner contributions, focus on sectors critical to Canada’s economic prosperity and security. They include advancements in agriculture, cryptography, and open-source quantum computing platforms.
Key Projects:
- Verge Ag in collaboration with D-Wave, Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI), University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), and Mitacs:
- Developing the world’s first customer-facing, real-world product powered by quantum computing to model and simulate complex agricultural scenarios for real-time decision-making.
- Quantum Bridge Technologies in collaboration with Metropolitan Technologies, Thales, and the University of Toronto:
- Advancing a unique software and hardware cryptography solution designed to protect critical infrastructure from quantum-enabled cyber threats.
- Xanadu Quantum Technologies in collaboration with Open Quantum Design (OQD) and Haiqu:
- Creating a full-stack, open-source quantum computing platform to make quantum technologies accessible and useful globally.
DIGITAL’s investments build on its track record of supporting the development and commercialization of over 185 products and services and 730 IP assets and patents since 2018.
