EuroHPC JU Expands Quantum Computing Infrastructure with New Call for Hosting Entities

The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) has launched an initiative to bolster Europe’s quantum computing capabilities: a call for expression of interest to select entities that will host and operate two new EuroHPC quantum computers in 2024. This marks a significant step in solidifying Europe’s position at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field.

Here’s what you need to know:

Applications for this exciting opportunity close on March 31st, 2024, at 5:00 PM CET. For detailed information and submission instructions, visit the dedicated webpage here.

Building on a Strong Foundation:

This call for hosting entities builds on the EuroHPC JU’s existing commitment to quantum computing leadership. In June 2023, agreements were signed with six sites across Europe to host and operate EuroHPC quantum computers. Additionally, two calls for tender are currently open for the installation of specific systems:

Furthermore, the EuroHPC JU is already fostering a federated European quantum computing infrastructure through the HPCQS project, which deploys two analogue quantum simulators based on neutral atoms.

By expanding its infrastructure and prioritizing diverse technologies, the EuroHPC JU is paving the way for a future where European researchers and businesses can unlock the full potential of this revolutionary technology.
