We had reported in January 2023 that IonQ would open a new facility in Bothell, Washington, a suburb of Seattle, to serve as the main manufacturing facility for their quantum computers and also to serve as IonQ’s second quantum data center. The company has now announced that the facility is completed and is now open. What is a little different in this announcement versus the one a year ago is the size of the facility at 105,000 square feet versus the 65,000 square feet planned when it was originally announced. This will provide additional space to house IonQ’s second quantum data center and other future systems and networks. This facility is unique as it will manufacture quantum computers that are replicable and deployable in customers’ data centers. The first IonQ Forte Enterprise system built in this facility is scheduled to be shipped to QuantumBasel in Switzerland in Q4. IonQ’s press release announcing the opening of the facility is available here.
