IonQ Partners with Busan Metropolitan City to Expand Quantum Cloud Services and Workforce Development in South Korea

IonQ (NYSE: IONQ), a leader in quantum computing, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Busan Metropolitan City, South Korea’s second-largest city and a key technology hub. The partnership aims to advance quantum science and technology in South Korea, focusing on workforce development, economic growth, and joint quantum initiatives.

Under the agreement, IonQ will provide quantum computing cloud services, support collaborative quantum projects, and contribute to workforce training programs. In return, Busan Metropolitan City will foster an environment conducive to the growth of the quantum technology sector, leveraging its status as a regional economic and technological leader.

Park Heong-joon, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, highlighted the partnership’s potential: “This collaboration will unlock new opportunities in sectors like logistics and finance, cementing Busan’s role as a global technology hub.” Peter Chapman, President and CEO of IonQ, emphasized the shared vision of driving innovation and building a robust quantum ecosystem in Korea.

The partnership builds on IonQ’s existing collaborations in South Korea, including projects with Hyundai MotorsSungkyunkwan University, and Seoul National University.
