KT and HEQA Security Partner to Deploy Quantum Key Distribution for Telecom Infrastructure

Korea Telecom (KT), a major telecommunications provider, has initiated a collaboration with HEQA Security, a company specializing in quantum-safe encryption. This strategic partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of next-generation secure communication technologies and strengthen telecom infrastructure against emerging threats from quantum computing by integrating Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technologies.

HEQA Security will contribute its advanced QKD systems, Sceptre Link and Sceptre Duo, which are designed for carrier-grade environments. These systems utilize quantum random number generation and secure key management protocols to protect core telecom operations, supporting flexible network configurations for integration into KT’s infrastructure. The capabilities of these quantum-safe systems will be showcased at Quantum Korea 2025 at KT’s pavilion, demonstrating their readiness for commercial rollout. Local South Korean partners, Hanwool Material Science and JinInfra, will support the technical collaboration and deployment efforts.

This partnership addresses the evolving threat landscape presented by the advancement of quantum computing, preparing the telecommunications backbone for future digital communication security. It underscores the readiness of QKD for commercial deployment in real-world telecom applications. The collaboration aims to deliver scalable security solutions that align with future technological needs, enhancing KT’s secure communication capabilities and advancing next-generation cybersecurity standards for resilient digital infrastructure.
