Qunnect Sets New Benchmark in Quantum Networking on the GothamQ Network in New York City

Qunnect, a leader in quantum networking technology, announced record-breaking performance in distributing polarization qubits on the GothamQ Network in New York City. Utilizing existing commercial fiber optic cable, Qunnect achieved transmission rates of 500,000 pairs of high-fidelity entangled photons per second with network uptime above 99%.

This advancement demonstrates the viability of Qunnect’s quantum networking components for prolonged, real-world deployment. Qunnect’s innovative approach uses room-temperature atoms to generate polarization entangled photons, enabling compatibility with other quantum devices such as sensors and computers. The QU-SRC entangled photon source maintained generation rates of one to ten million polarization-entangled photon pairs per second, while the QU-APC automatic polarization compensator preserved photon fidelity, resulting in 99.84% network uptime over 15 days of continuous operation. The results were published on arXiv here in celebration of World Quantum Day 2024. Qunnect plans to release the industry’s first full-rack quantum networking system later this year, allowing users to replicate the entanglement distribution protocols demonstrated in this announcement.
