SemiQon Opens Quantum Processor Testing and Measurement Facilities at VTT MIKES

SemiQon has completed its quantum processor testing and measurement facilities at the premises of the Finnish National Metrology Institute VTT MIKES. The company is the first to operate in this environment, leveraging world-class infrastructure for low-noise, high-precision measurement necessary for advancing scalable quantum hardware. This setup includes a cryogenic measurement system with a 5 Tesla magnetic field and operates at 400 millikelvin to 1 kelvin, higher temperatures than typical superconducting chips which reduces cryogenic requirements. Additionally, the facilities house a probe-station for full-scale wafer probing and various state-of-the-art qubit measurement equipment.

The partnership with VTT MIKES boosts the interest in and potential for metrology from a commercial perspective. SemiQon’s collaboration with Bluefors, which supplies top-of-the-line cryogenic equipment, also enhances its capabilities. This venture aligns with recent strategic investments in the region’s quantum technology development, such as NATO’s new DIANA test center and the Kvanttinova project in Otaniemi.
