Singapore and Quantinuum Sign MoU to Access Advanced Quantum Computing for Computational Biology

Singapore’s National Quantum Office (NQO), A*STAR, NUS, NSCC, and Quantinuum have signed an MoU granting access to Quantinuum’s advanced quantum computers. The collaboration aims to enhance quantum computing use cases, particularly in computational biology, leveraging Quantinuum’s H-Series and Helios quantum processors. This partnership will facilitate the development of hybrid computing solutions and promote training and outreach to nurture quantum talent in Singapore.

The MoU enables scientists from A*STAR’s Bioinformatics Institute, CQT at NUS, and Duke-NUS Medical School to use Quantinuum’s machines to model complex biological systems, advancing drug discovery and personalized medicine. Quantinuum plans to establish an R&D presence in Singapore, fostering knowledge exchange and further quantum developments.

Quantinuum, known for its high-performing quantum computers utilizing trapped-ion technology, will collaborate closely with Singapore’s quantum research entities. This integration supports the National Quantum Strategy, aiming to position Singapore as a leading hub in quantum technology development and deployment, strengthening engineering capabilities and talent retention.

This partnership underscores Quantinuum’s commitment to advancing quantum computing globally. By integrating their technology with Singapore’s research infrastructure, they aim to pioneer transformative use cases in computational biology and other industries, driving scientific excellence and fostering a vibrant quantum ecosystem.
