QuantWare, a leader in providing superconducting QPU components, has introduced Contralto-A, a 17-qubit Quantum Processor Unit (QPU) designed for quantum error correction. The QPU features flux-tunable transmon qubits and tunable couplers, enabling high-fidelity operations and supporting distance-3 surface code implementations. This makes Contralto-A nearly twice as large as competing commercially available solutions, providing a scalable foundation for error-corrected quantum systems.

Contralto-A includes advanced components such as Purcell filters and tunable couplers, optimized for high-performance quantum error correction. The QPU is designed to be easily upgradable to larger systems using QuantWare’s VIO platform, offering a cost-efficient scaling path. Additionally, QuantWare provides optional expert training and support to help customers develop competitive roadmaps for large-scale quantum error correction.

The Quantum Open Architecture compatibility of Contralto-A allows customers to integrate preferred components and customize their systems, ensuring flexibility and control. QuantWare’s CEO, Matthijs Rijlaarsdam, stated, “Contralto-A provides a credible first step for customers aiming to scale towards error-corrected quantum systems.”

Contralto-A is currently available for early access partners and will be open for general pre-order later this year. For more details, visit the product page here.
