During its 43rd Foundation Day celebration, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)—the telecom technology R&D center under India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT)—officially launched a suite of 14 indigenous quantum-secure products. The event featured addresses by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, highlighting India’s strategy to integrate quantum security and post-quantum cryptography (PQC) into national communications and future 6G network architectures.

Production-Grade Quantum Products and Commercialization

C-DOT CEO Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay confirmed that the 14 newly launched quantum products are production-grade solutions—not laboratory prototypes—designed to help financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and telecom operators transition away from vulnerable classical public-key infrastructure:

  • Hardware & Software Portfolio: The suite includes Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) hardware systems, Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) digital signatures, quantum-safe encryption units, and secure routing protocols.
  • Early Revenue Generation: C-DOT’s quantum technology stack has already generated over $1 million in commercial revenue, establishing early market adoption across sovereign Indian networks.
  • Regulatory Compliance Framework: The government guidelines developed alongside the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) have been circulated to regulators—including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), SEBI, and TRAI—to drive structured migration across critical financial and digital identity infrastructure.

Strategic Alignment with Bharat 6G and Global Export Mandate

The ministers placed C-DOT’s quantum releases inside India’s broader Bharat 6G Vision, which targets global technological leadership in next-generation networks by 2030:

  • Quantum-Interoperable 6G Architecture: The Department of Telecommunications is incorporating quantum key encryption, PQC, and disaster-resilient communications directly into international 6G standardizations through 3GPP and the ITU IMT-2030 framework.
  • Transition from Research to Global Deployment: Communications Minister Scindia mandated C-DOT to transition from pure R&D to international commercial product marketing, aiming to export “Made in India, Made for the World” telecom and cybersecurity products.
  • National Security Self-Reliance: By deploying indigenous QKD and PQC hardware, India seeks to eliminate reliance on foreign vendor supply chains for securing defense, satellite, and critical national infrastructure.
