Japanese measurement solutions provider TOYO Corporation has expanded its quantum hardware commitments by purchasing an IQM Spark (a 5-qubit educational and algorithm verification platform) from IQM Quantum Computers (NASDAQ: IQMX). The acquisition follows TOYO’s earlier order of a 20-qubit IQM Radiance processor. Both systems are scheduled for physical delivery by late 2026 and are projected to reach full operational status in early 2027.

Under the dual-deployment model, TOYO will install the IQM Spark at its R&D center in Kiba, Tokyo, dedicated to talent development, hardware component benchmarking, and algorithm verification. The 20-qubit IQM Radiance will operate at the Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI technology (G-QuAT)—a facility managed by Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). By interconnecting both platforms, TOYO will provide open on-premises and cloud access to Japanese universities, startups, and industrial researchers, aligning with national strategic targets of 10 million domestic quantum users and ¥50 trillion in quantum-generated economic value by 2030.
