UK defense contractor Babcock International Group (FTSE: BAB) and quantum-safe encryption software vendor Arqit Quantum Inc. (NASDAQ: ARQQ) conducted a live tactical communications demonstration at the DVD 2026 defense exposition in Millbrook, UK. Executed under a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the trial demonstrated software-defined, quantum-safe encryption across multi-bearer networks in contested tactical environments without relying on dedicated physical inline hardware encryptors.
During the demonstration, operational scenario data collected at one site was encrypted using Arqit’s NetworkSecure software platform and transmitted across IP bearers (combining 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, SATCOM, and Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks / MANETs) to Babcock’s Ground Deployed Advanced Mortar System (GDAMS). Integrated into Babcock’s Advanced Layered System Architecture, the software-defined encryption protocol secures tactical data in transit against post-quantum decryption and intercepted data exploitation while maintaining low-latency execution across core-to-edge defense networks.
