Horizon Quantum Computing Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based company focused on software infrastructure for quantum applications, has announced the completion of the assembly and integration of its first quantum computer at its headquarters. This makes Horizon Quantum the first quantum software company to own and operate its own quantum computer.
The system was assembled from a modular, multi-vendor configuration, combining Maybell’s cryogenic platform, control electronics from Quantum Machines, and a Rigetti superconducting quantum processor. This hardware testbed, over which the company has full control of both hardware and software stacks, is intended to narrow the gap between the ideal theoretical model of quantum computation and its practical realization. This work is expected to enhance the functionality of Triple Alpha, Horizon Quantum’s integrated development environment.
Dr. Joe Fitzsimons, founder and CEO of Horizon Quantum, stated that the company believes tight integration between hardware and software offers the shortest path to useful quantum computing. The modular design of the system facilitates development across a diverse range of hardware stacks, supporting the company’s goal of delivering the most capable hardware-agnostic development tools.
