We reported last February how Quantum Computing Inc.’s (QCI) subsidiary, named QI Solutions, received a subcontract award from Science Systems Applications, Inc. (SSAI) to support NASA in testing a proprietary quantum photonic system for remote sensing for use in applications such as monitoring climate change. The company has just announced they have received a follow-on subcontract to test its proprietary quantum photonic system for remote sensing applications (QLiDAR) and also demonstrate how satellite images can be processed by utilizing its photonic-based reservoir computing technology. The issue is that satellite based Lidar remote sensing faces considerable interference from the sun during daylight measurements. The research will involve using QCI’s reservoir photonic computing capability to remove the noise and make daylight measurements possible. The work under this new subcontract award is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2023. A press release from QCI announcing this award can be accessed here.
In other news, QCI has announced the signing of a Letter of Intent to acquire AI startup millionways. millionways is developed an emotionally intelligent artificial intelligence agent that can provide feedback to users on their emotional state and personality insights. The hope is that by using QCI’s reservoir photonic computing capability, they can significantly enhance the millionways algorithms to make them much more effective. The companies started working together in April 2023 with initial tests to see how QCI’s photonic processor would work with millionways’ algorithms. The relationship will start with QCI providing millionways a series of three bridge loans for a maximum total amount of $2,000,000. The bridge loans will provide QCI with the Right of First Refusal to acquire millionways at a predetermined amount. Details about this relationship between the companies can be seen in a press release from QCI available here.
