Infleqtion has named Matthew Kinsella as their new Chief Executive Officer replacing Scott Faris who has decided to leave the company to focus on quantum industry policy and investments in national security and defense. Mr. Kinsella was previously a senior Managing Director at Maverick Ventures and was one of the earliest investors in Infleqtion, when it was originally named ColdQuanta. He has served on the company’s board since 2018 and knows the company well. He will be focusing on continuing to  scale Infleqtion’s business and expand their sales into high-growth markets. A press release from Infleqtion announcing his appointment is available here.

IonQ has added Dr. Martin Roetteler as Senior Director of Quantum Solutions and Stacey Giamalis as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. Dr. Roetteler joins IonQ from Microsoft where he was the Director of Quantum Applications. He will be working to identify commercial applications that can take advantage of the company’s quantum processors. Three main areas where the company believes that IonQ’s ion trap processors are particularly well suited include atomistic scale simulations for hard computational chemistry problems, using quantum methods to enhance and augment AI/ML including generative AI, and optimization problems. In addition, he will be guiding the companies collaboration activities with third party software providers as well as with customers. These activities will include providing advice and support, making joint applications for government grants, providing IonQ’s API for third party integration, and showing partners how to achieve the best possible performance from IonQ’s processors. A news release from IonQ announcing Dr. Roetteler has joined the company can be seen here.

Ms. Giamilis comes to IonQ from PagerDuty where she was the SVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and played an important role in PageDuty’s IPO in 2019. She has served as Chief Legal Officer for six technology companies over the past 20 years and successfully completed eight mergers and acquisitions in her career along with three IPOs. Now that IonQ is a public company, her previous experience should be very helpful as the company complies with the responsiblities associated with being public and also as the company acts on its strategic initiatives. A news release announcing her addition to the IonQ management team can be accessed here.
