Quantum software developer Zapata Quantum (OTCQB: ZPTA) has formally joined the IBM Quantum Network, expanding its hardware access and application co-development pipeline across IBM’s superconducting quantum processing units (QPUs). The collaboration aims to bridge the “quantum application gap”—the disparity between rapidly advancing QPU hardware capabilities and enterprise readiness to identify, benchmark, and deploy mission-critical quantum software workflows.
Under the agreement, Zapata will integrate insights from IBM’s fault-tolerant and utility-scale superconducting processors into Quantum Pilot™, Zapata’s hardware-agnostic platform for quantum application discovery and development. The joining of the network builds upon prior joint research between IBM and Zapata scientists, including a landmark hybrid quantum-classical generative model study published in Nature Biotechnology (selected as one of the journal’s top 10 papers of 2025) that identified novel small-molecule inhibitors targeting the KRAS cancer mutation using a 16-qubit IBM processor, as well as foundational research on variational quantum factoring published in npj Quantum Information.
