Chalmers Next Labs, ConScience, and NQFF Validate Superconducting Qubit Chip Stability Across International Testbeds

In a joint hardware benchmarking study, Chalmers Next Labs AB, ConScience AB, and Singapore’s National Quantum Federated Foundry (NQFF) have demonstrated that superconducting quantum processors maintain stable physical performance characteristics when transported between international research facilities.

Executed under the WACQT–NQFF Twin Testbed initiative—a project funded by Swedish innovation agency Vinnova under the QUASI (Quantum Advancement through Sweden–Singapore Integration) framework—the study evaluated the QiB1 5-qubit superconducting quantum processor, fabricated by ConScience in Gothenburg, across measurement facilities in Sweden and Singapore.

Measurement Phase & LocationEnvironmental & Testing ParametersQubit Control & Coherence Performance
• Phase 1: Baseline Calibration
(WACQT Testbed, Gothenburg — Jan 2026)
• Initial cryogenic calibration on ConScience QiB1 QPU• Established baseline microwave control frequencies and recorded top T1 relaxation times > 100 μs.
• Phase 2: International Transit
(NQFF Lab, Singapore — Spring 2026)
• Shipped to Singapore; 80 hours of continuous automated testing• Control microwave frequencies matched initial Gothenburg values within a < 1% deviation margin.
• Phase 3: Return Validation
(WACQT Testbed, Gothenburg — Aug 2026)
• Returned to Sweden and re-calibrated in original lab setup• Confirmed long-term frequency stability remained within 1% of January baseline; T1 coherence preserved > 100 μs.

Superconducting qubits rely on nanometer-thin aluminum oxide Josephson junctions, making their microwave operating frequencies sensitive to fabrication variances, physical shipping stress, and ambient magnetic field differences between geographical regions. The testbed results confirmed that environmental changes between Gothenburg and Singapore did not degrade the processor’s functional performance.

The collaboration operationalizes an October 2025 Memorandum of Understanding signed between Singapore’s National Quantum Office (NQO) and the Quantum Sweden Innovation Platform (QSIP). Chalmers Next Labs and NQFF are commercializing the Gothenburg–Singapore Twin Testbed as a standardized cross-facility measurement service for quantum component suppliers, with full measurement data scheduled for presentation at the APS March Meeting 2027.
