Qubit by Qubit is an initiative by The Coding School with a goal to make quantum computing education available to anyone who wants to learn. They are offering both a one or a two semester course targeted for students at the high school level and above to teach them about quantum computing. Semester 1 from September 18 – December 17, 2022 will cover the Fundamentals of Quantum Computing while Semester 2 will continue the lessons through April 16, 2023 and will cover Applications of Quantum Computing, going into Quantum Finance, Quantum Chemistry, and more. Students will have the option of signing up for just Semester 1 or for both Semesters 1 and 2. The course will require a 3-5 hours per week time commitment with both the lectures and the labs happening via Zoom. It will be taught by quantum researchers at MIT and UC Berkeley and the program has already had over 10,000 alumni. The only prerequisite is that students have taken a geometry class. No prior STEM experience or quantum knowledge is required or expected. The standard price for attending Semester 1 is $995 or $1195 for both Semesters 1 and 2. However, thanks to IBM Quantum, full and partial scholarships may still be available for all students with financial need and those from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds in STEM. High school students and early undergraduates will be prioritized. The final deadline for applying is September 23, 2022 at 12 noon Eastern time. To learn more about this program and to apply, you can view the Qubit by Qubit web page describing the course here.
