SkyWater Technology (NASDAQ: SKYT), a U.S.-based semiconductor foundry, has announced a collaboration with QuamCore, a deep-tech startup, under a multi-million-dollar contract. The partnership is focused on co-developing Single Flux Quantum (SFQ) devices to accelerate the advancement of practical, large-scale quantum computing.

The collaboration aims to co-engineer a superconducting fabrication process optimized for integrating SFQ digital control circuits with superconducting qubit arrays. The resulting SFQ technology is intended to enable ultra-low-power, high-speed control to operate natively at cryogenic temperatures as low as 10 mK. QuamCore claims that SFQ control can reduce cabling by up to 1,000× and delivers significantly lower power dissipation compared with CMOS, directly addressing bottlenecks in wiring density and heat load.

This partnership is positioned to accelerate QuamCore’s roadmap toward a 1-million-qubit superconducting quantum computer by leveraging SkyWater’s U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities. Thomas Sonderman, CEO of SkyWater Technology, noted that the collaboration demonstrates how their foundry can enable the next generation of quantum systems operating at the deepest cryogenic levels. Joint development milestones are expected over the next 12–18 months.
