The graphical chart at the bottom of this page allows you to visualize the quantum computing resources needed to process 19 different algorithms with 8 different quantum computing configurations. It provides both the number of physical qubits required and the runtime. For more details about the algorithms and the tool that we have used, we refer you to our previous articles The GQI Quantum Resource Estimator Playbook and Update on the GQI Quantum Resource Estimator Playbook.

The tool has been designed to provide clarity into the resources required by allowing one to filter the results by Algorithm, Machine Configuration, Qubit Range, and Runtime Range. The initial display shows a cleared chart. To show the resource estimation results for one or more algorithms, click on them and it will graphically show the results for all eight machine configurations. Click on the algorithm again and it is cleared. Or to view all 19 resource estimation results for a specific machine configuration, click on that configuration and view the icons that plot the results for each algorithm. Hover over the icon and it will show which algorithm that icon represents. Click on the machine configuration again and it will be cleared. You can also filter the results by clicking on the appropriate Qubit Filter and/or Runtime Filter to limit the ranges.

Keys to the Legends Used

  • Algorithm Legend:
    • Color and Symbol Guide: Each quantum algorithm is represented by a unique color and symbol.
    • Interaction: Click on ‘Clear Chart’ and then select any algorithm from the legend to filter the chart and display only the chosen algorithm’s data.
  • Configuration Modality:
    • Interaction: Click on a configuration in the legend to update the chart, showing only data points for that configuration.
    • Details on Hover: Hovering over any data point on the chart will display its associated physical qubits, runtime, and the quantum use case it belongs to.
  • Qubit Modality:
    • Selection and Display: Click on a qubit technology, such as trapped ion, superconducting, or Majorana, to filter and display data related to the selected technology.
    • Vendor Information: Selecting a qubit modality also displays the corresponding vendor information and highlights relevant configurations in the configuration legend.
    • Details on Hover: Similar to configuration modality, hovering over data points will provide detailed information about the data.
  • Filter Controls: Utilize the bar controls to filter displayed algorithms based on qubit count and runtime. This allows focusing on specific segments of the dataset.

General Tips: Always use ‘Clear Chart’ after interacting with legends to ensure a clean view of new selections without overlaying previous data.
