Pakistan and China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation in quantum technologies. The agreement, which is intended to expand bilateral collaboration into advanced research, development, and innovation, was signed between the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) and the Emerging Technologies Lab, a PSDP-funded project under the Pakistani Ministry of Planning.

The core of the agreement is that China will assist Pakistan in establishing the National Center for Quantum Computing. This collaboration will include research partnerships, joint initiatives, expert exchange, and skills training. Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal noted that the country is also initiating the Quantum Valley Project, a hub for innovation, technology, and knowledge-based development.

The technological cooperation is a key pillar under CPEC Phase-II, which marks a strategic shift from infrastructure and energy projects toward industrial modernization, digital transformation, and human resource development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and fostering long-term partnerships that contribute to technological advancement and national development.
