D-Wave Quantum Inc. and Staque have developed a hybrid-quantum application to optimize the movements of autonomous agricultural vehicles. Supported by Verge Ag and Canada’s DIGITAL Global Innovation Cluster, the application simulates and optimizes in-field operations for autonomous and semi-autonomous machines, addressing complex routing challenges that classical computing struggles to solve efficiently.

The application leverages D-Wave’s hybrid quantum technologies to deliver significant speedups over traditional methods, enabling real-time decision-making for agricultural operations. This innovation aims to enhance farming efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness by optimizing crop production and resource management.

“Quantum-optimized solutions can revolutionize agriculture by providing real-time analysis crucial for farmers and decision-makers,” said Dr. Muhammad Khan, SVP of Innovation at Verge Ag. The application will be showcased at World FIRA 2025 and Qubits 2025, D-Wave’s annual user conference.
