The Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT) of the Dutch Ministry of Defence has officially launched the Quantum Challenges, an initiative aimed at addressing technical and operational quantum challenges through innovative solutions. Six participants, including start-ups, knowledge institutes, and universities such as QuiX Quantum, TNO, and Eindhoven University of Technology, were selected to collaborate on this eight-month project.
The initiative focuses on fostering collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the quantum ecosystem, with participants developing solutions for specific defence-related use cases. The results will be showcased at Purple NECtar/Innovation in Defence in November 2025, where the best solutions will receive follow-up assignments.
COMMIT aims to not only solve its own challenges but also strengthen the quantum ecosystem by promoting knowledge sharing. During the kickoff event, participants highlighted the Ministry’s agility in procurement and collaboration. Interactive sessions will continue to facilitate knowledge exchange throughout the project.
Companies involved include Fermioniq, QuantaMap, Qubitrium, Deltares, CUbIQ Technologies, and Capgemini. For more details, visit the LinkedIn post and the QuiX Quantum announcement.
