GMV, a Spanish technology group specializing in cybersecurity, space, and defense, and LuxQuanta, a company focused on Continuous-Variable Quantum Key Distribution (CV-QKD) technologies, have established a strategic alliance. This collaboration is intended to accelerate the real-world deployment of QKD technologies and strengthen Europe’s sovereignty in quantum-safe communications.
The partnership aims to bridge the terrestrial fiber network segment with the secure space segment of quantum communication. GMV will contribute its expertise in managing encryption and Key Management Systems (KMS) used in space missions, including Galileo, to manage the full lifecycle of quantum keys across complex networks. LuxQuanta’s CV-QKD solution, built around its NOVA LQ® platform, will provide the physical layer for generating quantum keys securely over terrestrial infrastructures, enabling scalable and efficient integration into existing fiber networks.
This joint effort supports the path toward commercial, scalable, and long-range quantum communication by integrating the space and fiber segments. GMV’s QuKee Key Management Solution will ensure full lifecycle management of quantum keys, supporting auditing, redundancy, and integration with post-quantum cryptographic infrastructures.
Jesús B. Serrano, CEO of GMV, noted that the company’s experience in both cybersecurity and key management in complex space systems uniquely positions them to help lead Spain and Europe into the post-quantum era. The alliance is intended to deliver a Spanish-engineered, European-aligned quantum communication solution, fully aligned with European initiatives such as the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI).
