IBM has introduced Guardium Cryptography Manager, a new, AI-powered solution designed to help enterprises protect data and take control of their cryptographic posture. The product is intended to address the anticipated risks from quantum computing, which could break current encryption algorithms. A report from the IBM Institute for Business Value notes that only 30% of organizations have completed a cryptographic inventory, leaving most unprepared for these risks.

Guardium Cryptography Manager is designed to deliver visibility, centralized lifecycle management, encryption, and remediation for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). The solution leverages generative AI to provide insights and accelerate remediation. Its capabilities include cryptographic visibility and control to map dependencies and provide audit-ready reporting, as well as agentless transparent database encryption, which automates the detection of encryption gaps in leading enterprise databases.

The new solution expands upon IBM’s existing product, Guardium Quantum Safe, which was introduced last year to help enterprises assess cryptographic vulnerabilities. IBM’s position as a leader in both quantum systems and PQC is intended to help clients navigate the transition to quantum resilience. The product is now available, with additional support for certificate lifecycle management and transparent database encryption coming in November 2025.
