ID Quantique (IDQ), a subsidiary of IonQ specializing in quantum-safe solutions, has announced strategic partnerships with Colt Technology Services (Colt), a global digital infrastructure company, and Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA). These collaborations aim to advance the deployment of quantum-safe network security services and enhance the protection of critical assets against emerging threats from quantum computing across telecommunications and maritime sectors.
In its collaboration with Colt, IDQ has completed a trial demonstrating quantum-secured encryption across Colt’s optical wave network. This trial showcased different quantum-secure key exchange and encryption methods, including Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Pre-Shared Key (PSK), and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) technology. The integration involved IDQ’s Clavis XG series QKD systems and Clarion KX quantum-safe key exchange platform, enabling businesses to scale data-in-transit security. Simultaneously, IDQ’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ADMA, initiated through Qinnovision’s Quantum Adoption Programme by Vernewell Group, focuses on exploring quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions for the maritime sector.
The partnership with ADMA aims to secure maritime infrastructure by developing quantum-safe cybersecurity services tailored to maritime challenges and exploring the potential establishment of quantum-safe infrastructure and Platforms as a Service (PaaS) models for secure data transfer across international shipping lanes and port operations. Collectively, these partnerships underscore the readiness of IDQ’s quantum-safe technologies for real-world deployment. They highlight ongoing efforts within critical infrastructure sectors to proactively integrate quantum-safe measures, ensuring long-term resilience against future quantum-enabled cyberattacks and advancing digital communication security.
