Kipu Quantum has partnered with IBM Quantum to launch a new optimization function in the Qiskit Functions Catalog, a platform designed to simplify quantum application workflows. The new function, “Iskay Quantum Optimizer,” leverages Kipu Quantum’s Bias-Field Digitized Counterdiabatic Quantum Optimization BF-DCQO algorithm algorithm, offering a powerful tool for solving complex optimization problems on IBM’s quantum hardware.

The BF-DCQO algorithm, developed by Kipu Quantum, has demonstrated superior performance in solving higher-order unconstrained binary optimization (HUBO) problems, outperforming classical methods and existing quantum algorithms like the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and quantum annealing. The algorithm’s ability to handle large-scale optimization tasks efficiently makes it a promising candidate for real-world applications in logistics, finance, and energy management.

The integration of the Iskay Quantum Optimizer into the Qiskit Functions Catalog allows users to access Kipu Quantum’s advanced optimization capabilities without requiring deep expertise in quantum hardware. By abstracting the complexities of quantum circuit design and execution, the function enables researchers and developers to focus on solving domain-specific problems.

“This collaboration exemplifies how third-party quantum software services can enhance the Qiskit ecosystem,” said Jay Gambetta, IBM Fellow and VP of IBM Quantum. “We’re excited to see how optimization researchers leverage Kipu Quantum’s function to explore new use cases on IBM’s quantum computers”.

The Qiskit Functions Catalog, launched in 2024, provides a platform for developers to access pre-built quantum workflows, accelerating the development of quantum applications. The catalog includes both Circuit Functions and Application Functions, with Kipu Quantum’s Iskay Quantum Optimizer falling into the latter category.
