Kipu Quantum, a German company focused on quantum computing solutions, has launched a new subsidiary, Kipu Quantum Bizkaia, S.L., in Bilbao, Spain. This move signifies the company’s international expansion and its commitment to fostering industrial quantum utility across Europe and Latin America. The new entity will function as Kipu Quantum’s operational hub in Spain.

The subsidiary aims for deeper engagement with Bizkaia Quantum Advanced Industries (BIQAIN), an initiative by the Government of Bizkaia in collaboration with Lantik as part of the Basque Government’s BasQ initiative, as well as with industrial and academic partners. Kipu Quantum offers quantum solutions as a service via its PLANQK platform to over 220 organizations. The company’s algorithmic technology is intended to enable quantum advantage on existing quantum hardware for industrial applications. Prof. Enrique Solano, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Kipu Quantum, noted that the new subsidiary will offer quantum solutions across telecommunications, life sciences, energy, manufacturing, and finance sectors.

The establishment of Kipu Quantum Bizkaia, S.L. aims to connect quantum innovation with commercial impact by collaborating with local and global stakeholders. This presence contributes to the Bizkaia region’s role in quantum industry adoption within the European quantum landscape. Dr. Daniel Volz, Co-founder and CEO of Kipu Quantum, emphasized the goal of enabling industrial-level quantum computing in the Basque region. This expansion is part of Kipu Quantum’s broader strategy to advance application- and hardware-specific quantum computing solutions.
