Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) and Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) have announced the launch of the first Quantum-AI Data Centre in New York City. The data center, located at Digital Realty’s JFK10 facility and built with NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips, is a flagship initiative of the UK–US Tech Trade Partnership. This deployment is the first quantum computing system to be installed in New York City and is intended to reinforce the strategic technology alliance between the two nations.
The data center integrates OQC’s GENESIS quantum computer with NVIDIA accelerated AI hardware. The platform is designed to support hybrid quantum-AI workloads and enterprise adoption, with OQC expecting that future GENESIS systems will ship with NVIDIA accelerated computing as standard. The system harnesses the NVIDIA CUDA-Q™ platform to bring together OQC’s quantum computing technology, NVIDIA AI infrastructure, and Digital Realty’s data center expertise. OQC’s patented dual-rail Dimon qubit technology is said to reduce hardware overheads for error-corrected qubits, supporting scalability for future systems.
This launch is part of a broader NVIDIA effort to accelerate the UK quantum ecosystem. The company is collaborating with pioneers in the field, including a hybrid-quantum deep neural network project with ORCA Computing, Imperial College London, and the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center. NVIDIA is also working with the University of Edinburgh on GPU-accelerated quantum error-correction software and with SEEQC on integrating QPUs and GPUs via a scalable digital interface system.
The integrated platform is intended to unlock new possibilities across critical sectors by eliminating geographical and infrastructure barriers for businesses. The data centre will support applications in finance (risk modeling, portfolio optimization) and security (material simulation, logistics optimization). Science Minister Patrick Vallance noted that the launch showcases British tech excellence and strengthens transatlantic ties, while Sir Jeremy Fleming, an OQC Board member and former Director of GCHQ, highlighted that the deployment combines British innovation and American infrastructure to deliver trusted computing power.
