ORCA Computing presented a set of completed use cases at the Digital Catapult’s Quantum Technology Access Programme (QTAP) Showcase, highlighting the application of photonic quantum computing in real-world industrial contexts. Companies including VodafoneBAE SystemsAutonomiaOrigami LabsViasatZF Group, SIMULEX Limited and MBDA developed and deployed quantum applications using ORCA’s PT-2 photonic platform and software development kit.

Use cases included a network optimization algorithm executed by Vodafone and early algorithm development by BAE Systems. SIMULEX successfully implemented a quantum-enhanced application on ORCA’s hardware, while Origami Labs explored photonic quantum computing for commercial challenges. Participants noted minimal onboarding time, emphasizing the accessibility of the ORCA SDK for rapid prototyping.

The event demonstrates concrete traction beyond previous platform announcements, with ORCA’s hardware and tooling tested in non-laboratory environments. Feedback from partners confirms active evaluation and plans for continued development using the platform.

This marks a new phase for ORCA as a provider of commercially usable quantum computing solutions, validating the readiness of its photonic systems for industrial experimentation. The demonstration also reinforces QTAP’s role in advancing hardware deployment in the UK quantum ecosystem.
